In sport who wants to witness a lacklustre performance
We expect more from our professional sportsmen and women, sometimes they let us down
BUT
Before we cast that first stone, we’re all enthusiastic — Right?
Lacklustre? Not me — really, who are we trying to kid.
How many times do you get up in the morning bemoaning the fact you’ve got to go to work
How many times do you have the feeling of “Just can’t be bothered” or am I the only one
Lacklustre – Lacking in vitality, force, or conviction; uninspired or uninspiring
Yep that’s the definition and I can’t say I’m not guilty of Lacklustre — How about you?
As we go through this tumultuous time it’s interesting to reflect on what really matters
What’s important in life — Let’s not go as deep as the meaning of life — 42
BUT
Rather, what can we get enthusiastic about — If we’ve got to work why not be enthusiastic
This is so important when you look at the two trifecta’s at play
Apparently — The Career Satisfaction Formula — Has three main characteristics
- Doing what you’re good at
- Doing what you find meaningful and can get enthusiastic about
- Doing what gets you paid
Unfortunately The Abject Career Misery Formula or Burnout
Also has Has three main characteristics
- Exhaustion
- Cynicism (less identification with the job)
- Feelings of reduced professional ability.
So that’s great satisfaction or crash and burn
With those two options makes sense to have a rethink
Enthusiastic — Having or showing intense and eager enjoyment, interest, or approval
So when you wake up feeling lacklustre, can’t be bothered, disappear under the covers
AND
You understand the consequences — Burnout — Then wisdom would have us
Take a long hard look at where we are and find a different path
From Burnout to Enthusiasm — there’s absolutely something out there for you
That will light you up, fill you with excitement, momentum and motivation
Go for it — Your Enthusiastic Performance awaits you.
