You could be forgiven for thinking I had abandoned my blog site. Far from it. With my technical ability, I somehow managed to lock myself out of my own site. Now I think, or at least I hope, I'm back! So what's been happening in the meantime? Well, quite a lot actually. My latest book, The More, is at the printers, and my e-book, Purpose Doesn't Retire, is now available…

I recently read an article about transitioning out of corporate life, and one statement stood out. While it was directed at professionals leaving mid-career to start something new, it applies just as much—if not more—to those approaching retirement: "Underestimating the identity shift: Your title, role, and company have defined you for decades. Once you leave, that built-in credibility disappears. Successful transitions require intentional identity work before you exit.” - Adrian…

I came across an article today in The Conversation about creating positive workplaces. It raised some important points about promoting mental health and well-being in organisations, but I couldn’t help thinking: What if you didn’t have to wait for your workplace to change? What if you took the lead and designed the life and career you deserve? Here’s what the article said—and how I believe you can turn these insights…

You’ve probably heard the claim: only 3% of people plan their future, and they’re the ones who go on to achieve success. Investigations, however, have failed to verify the existence of this so-called research. It’s likely an urban legend. Thank goodness for that! If it were true, the rest of us—the 97%—would be doomed to failure. But don’t dismiss the sentiment entirely. Benjamin Franklin is credited with saying, "If you…

It’s nearly 2025—a quarter of a century gone, yet for many, life remains stuck in the same cycle, with no light at the end of the tunnel. As the year winds down, many people find themselves wondering: Can I do another year of this? Surely, there’s more to life. The constant stress. The relentless pressure. Feeling burned out from staying strong for far too long. That yearning for something different—a…

So you’re nearing 50 or you’ve just slipped past and you’re wondering - Is this it? Is this all there is? You’ve been working forever, well it seems like it and where has that got you? What happened to the dreams, the imagination, the thoughts conjured up in your childhood The enthusiasm, expectation and excitement of your teens or the intrigue of your twenties As you settled into life, worked…

OR -  Are there hurdles, setbacks, and challenges to overcome? I had a conversation with my daughter today about how people perceive themselves as having their life together. She’s come to the realisation that most people don’t—and they rarely admit it. How can someone grow into adulthood if they expect everything to be perfect? That life will always be great, problems will be few, and parents never argue, never face…

Getting old isn’t a choice—but how you do it is! The earlier you make that choice, the better. Too often, people ‘wait to get sick, to get healthy!’ All the while knowing it’s folly!  The truth is, there are simple steps you can take now to secure your progress through life. It’s not all about gyms, fad diets, or the latest shiny gimmick.  For years, we’ve known that the root…

What to do when you’re approaching retirement or your working life is over: Do you accept that you’re getting older and settle into the twilight years, or do you find new avenues to explore? Question: Have we been mistaken all these years? Is there a misunderstanding about aging? We’ve been led to believe that retirement at 65 means we’re "old." But here’s the truth: That’s chronological aging—not biological or physiological…

As we go through life mostly we don’t really think about getting old until we do Oh there’s the dread or turning thirty when you think you ought to be all sorted for life Pushing forty when you realise your own mortality Reaching fifty when you start to worry that you won’t ever be able to stop working By the time you’ve made it to sixty you think you’re on…
