I woke at four this morning which is early even for me.
I wasn’t woken by worry, rather the voice in my head that said “Do not worry.”
Half asleep, half awake I mulled over the voice.
I thought back to a scripture that I received when I went to boarding school at the age of ten
“Fear not neither be thou dismayed for the Lord thy God is with thee withersoever thou goest.”
In all my years of repeating that verse, I have never replaced the word fear with worry.
Worry not nor be dismayed for God is with you wherever you go.
That woke me up, what a difference a word makes!
What defeats us? What leads us to Indecision, Procrastination, Stagnation?
Doubt, Worry, Anxiety, Fear. All can lead to burnout and depression.
Yet we are told to worry not, fear not, doubt not and be anxious for nothing.
What would our world be like if we could live in this?
As I thought about it I chuckled, I thought, well what will I do with my thinking time if I don’t worry
What would my life be like?
Would I achieve more, be more courageous, take greater risks, enjoy life more?
I’ll let you know — Today I’ve decided to stop worrying — Let’s see how that works for me!
I’m sure it will make my family laugh — Can I possibly last a day?
How about you?
