WHO SAID YOU’RE GETTING OLD?

As we go through life mostly we don’t really think about getting old until we do

Oh there’s the dread or turning thirty when you think you ought to be all sorted for life

Pushing forty when you realise your own mortality

Reaching fifty when you start to worry that you won’t ever be able to stop working

By the time you’ve made it to sixty you think you’re on the downward spiral to retirement

Can you afford to retire, will you have the funds and health to enjoy the life you want,

The lifestyle you dreamed of through all those working years

Or a purpose to continue with life after retirement – A life of meaning and fulfilment?

We’ve been sold on the idea of retirement as if it’s some magical moment in time when you do what you want to do, with the perfect retirement fund in place and boundless health and energy

But when you get there, you realise you haven’t got the health, the money or the mojo to do the things you wanted to do, enthusiasm has waned and you’re exhausted, physically, mentally and financially.

Sounds great doesn’t it – But it doesn’t have to be that way if you change the approach to aging

Instead of looking at it as the number of years you’ve been on this earth which is chronology

Like the old man in the photo looking at the time…

Look at Biological aging – it’s different and it’s something you have more control over

You can’t turn back the clock but you may be able affect the biological aging process

It’s a fascinating way to view and approach life, it can be tough to ditch the old model

So steeped within our belief system is the idea that time and age are the same thing

Get that out of the way – Change direction and life may just become a whole lot more exciting

Stay tuned as I go into this in more depth in subsequent blogs
