DEFERRED HOPE

Hope deferred makes the heart sick

Despair and Affliction —Depression, Anxiety, Burnout and actual physical sickness.

I suspect many are feeling Heart Sick right now — I know I’ve had many dark moments this year

The hope of things getting better as restrictions ease — Blurred by increasing sickness numbers

The hope that life is on the mend — somehow returning to a semblance of normal — Still distant

The hope of joining Family – Friends – Loved Ones for Christmas —  Dashed

BUT

A longing fulfilled is a tree of life

It is this longing, this desire that we need to hold onto — Not let it be crushed by current events

Why? Why hold on so tight to this longing — Because the alternative is not an option

“Woe to him who saw no more sense in his life, no purpose and therefore no point in carrying on”

Wrote Victor Frankl

We need to carry on!

AND

So hard as it is — We  hold firm to hope — Whatever that is for each one of us

How do we find such Hope

How do we Discover a purpose that sets us on track even in turbulent times

We go beyond purpose — To the Higher Authority — HE has given us the desires of our heart

We just need to identify them — Beyond Purpose — Beyond Why — Lies the answer

Even as we struggle with daily events we can choose to control what we can control

Our mind — Our Direction — Our Flow

Sure it may have changed radically since last week but we can make something out of it

We can Change — Pivot — Imagine — Dream — Plan — Do

We can Hope and believe that when the desire comes, it is a tree of life.

There are three elements that lie beyond Purpose

Three elements that when understood shape Purpose

Three elements that fuel hope and expectation for the future

Better to take our minds there and ask as Admiral Chester Nimitz did

“God grant me the courage not to give up what I think is right even though I think it is hopeless.”

So as we go into Christmas our hope firmly fixed on the LORD — The tree of life

As we celebrate His birth and all that He means to us

Let us hold onto the dream we have been given and despite the circumstances

Know that we are right — That we are coming through — we are overcoming

And good will prevail.

Happy Christmas…
